Emergency Preparedness
Hooperites,
In January 2024 we began, as a group of volunteers, to implement Hooper’s emergency preparedness plan using FEMA’s National Incident Management System - Incident Command System
(https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/nims). This is a large undertaking but something that certainly is essential. To date, we have parsed out the city into four quadrants and 17 areas in total within in the quadrants with the expectation of coordinators for each quadrant and area. We need to further develop our city’s Emergency Plan to be better prepared as a city, families, and individuals.
Three fold purpose:
Implement Incident Command System
Develop a core of CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team) volunteers.
Develop resources, education, and training for family and personal preparedness.
June – September topics:
June: Family emergency preparedness plan
July: 72 hour grab bag – Water and food (perishable)
August: 72 hour grab bag – Supplies (non-perishable)
Sept: 72 hour grab bag – Other (documents, contact info, etc.)
